Interviews: Next Monarch

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Next Monarch, from Poland and Mexico. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The idea originates from a song of the same title. It's a cool name; it sounded right, but we don't attach any specific meaning to it. The song, "Next Monarch" speaks of the degradation of society, the downfall of humanity, and the sort of entity or event that would bring about its end.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It was never a decision that we made. We played music we liked, and it just happened to be a mix of punk rock with metal vocals and guitar shreds. Our musical inspirations are very diverse and not necessarily as metal-oriented as one might think.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Bartek is my brother, and Nancy is my wife, so yeah, I guess we knew each other before :)

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For me, it's perhaps The Sisters of Mercy, though it's hard to choose just one. Nancy loves Interpol and AFI.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We enjoy doing music and always feel the drive to compose.

6. Where was your last gig?

Next Monarch is an international band, which makes the logistics of touring quite troublesome. We have yet to play live as Next Monarch.

7. Where would you like to act?

No preference, really. Any place with an audience that came to the event to see us specifically.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A great number of artists, most of them out of our reach, though.

9. Whom not?

There are surely a lot of bands we dislike, but for the sake of decency, I'll spare you their names.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Perhaps in the early days, I suffered from occasional stage fright during presentations at university or at my job, but on stage, I know what I'm doing and I'm quite confident about it. So I guess the key here is sheer arrogance :)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Hard to pick just one, but The Offspring was my gateway band to the world of rock and guitar. One of the tapes we listened to as kids was a compilation of guitar shredders, like Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, or Yngwie Malmsteen. Perhaps that's why Bartek suffers from shredding-Vitis today.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Let's keep this interview family-friendly, okay?

13. What do you think of your fans?

As for now - most of them are Nancy's friends. Very nice people.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's very nice how much support you show to young bands. Behind the artworks and Track by Tracks are really good ideas that allow a glance behind the surface.

15. Something to add?

Great thanks for having us on the pages of your Zine, Jon. It's been a pleasure!
