Interviews: Stage Of Reality

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Stage Of Reality from Italy. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

Stage of Reality logo has changed through the years. Since the band's foundation in 2014, we've replaced our logo at least four times. Actually, we got this idea that the logo must be significant and it must contain the "meaning of everything" a sort of key to understanding what we wanna say with our music and lyrics. The actual logo consists of the words STAGE OF REALITY (which is obvious) passing through an upside down triangle containing a pattern of kanji characters (japanese words). those Kanji's mean stage, the place, a situation, and reality, things like they really are and not like they appear to us. The triangle means knowledge but it's upside down, so our knowledge may not be the right one. Perhaps we need to get deep into things to understand their true reality.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We really like to mesh up things and alternative rock metal with electronic seems to us a good way to do that

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Actually, we don't, except me and Marco (bass player). We've played together before in a band called Astarte Syriaca.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Everyone has his own one, but what unites us is the variety of genres we like: from classical to jazz, from metal to pop music. So actually is difficult to name one. My favs all over are Queen, Dream Theater, and Guns 'n Roses.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The main inspiration comes from everyday life events, they can be global like wars, or personal like love and situations we live. Our albums are always a mixture of different kinds of inspirations even though I can say they are more inspired by global events. Violence, wars, euthanasia, religion, and so on.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our latest gig was in Rome, last January and it was awesome. Now we're working on the new upcoming album so we had a break with live and rehearsals.

7. Where would you like to act?

This is a very good one actually!!! I'd like to act in any kind of enormous place on earth. Just name one and I'll say yes!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It could be great to feature with Dream Theater, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, and Rammstein. I'm not talking just about singers, but the whole band!

9. Whom not?

I really don't know... I feel so much appreciation for those artists who really made it that it's impossible for me to think this one not.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Talking about me yes of course. I suffered for at least 3 years and it was so damn difficult to go on stage and play my guitar. My fingers were iced and I felt like outer space. After a bunch of gigs, I started to ask people older than me and see if they had tricks and suggestions. It happened so fast... A guitar player told me: "I smoke a cigar and drink a whiskey 10 minutes before the gig". So I said: "great! I don't like to smoke and I don't believe a glass of whiskey will make me play better.... ah ah ah". but you know what? Since the next gig, I've never suffered stage fright anymore. Even without the old man trick!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands who inspire me are my favorite ones even though I'd like to add Lady Gaga, Depeche Mode, and Skrillex.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Can't say... ah ah ah. Well, I was on tour with Blaze Bayley, and a girl asked to do it behind the amplifier. It was so uncomfortable!!! ah ah ah

13. What do you think of your fans?

The further we play from home, the better are the fans. I can't explain why!!! Usually the first time they say: "I've never heard about you but you are awesome!!!" and then they buy everything from the merch. Fantastic!

14. What do you think of our site?

Your website is very well done and I think music needs more people like you. Thank you for your great commitment!

15. Something to add?

Yes sure! Don't forget to support independent music, small local bands, opening acts, and go visit our website to get deep into our music. www.stageofreality.com (it's so simple!!!)
