Interviews: Terra Nullius

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band Terra Nullius from Hungary. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

L.Sz.: I decided in advance to establish a band with this name. Terra Nullius is a Latin phrase that stands for „No man’s Land”. I thought it would be the right choice as the band aims to create a unique world in terms of sound and lyrics that have not been represented in this form yet.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

L.Sz: I have always had a love for both metal and classical music. My father exposed me to rock and metal music when I was very young, and later on at music school I was very impressed by classical music, as well. So I decided that if I ever get the chance, I would start a band where we would combine the sonority of these two genres. In order to do this, I found my fellow musicians, and Terra Nullius was born.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We did not know each other, we met through professional connections.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

M.H: Children of Bodom, Wintersun

T.É.: Dream Theater, Helloween, all kinds of Scandinavian metal

L.Sz.: Kamelot, also all kinds of Scandinavian metal

I.T.: SRV, Pantera

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

L.Sz.: I always draw from my own everyday experiences. I write about influences and feelings that directly affect my life. That's why I've never been able to plan ahead and write a song. If I have something worth saying, I will write it out.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Budapest, HU New Album Announcement concert on Dec. 29

7. Where would you like to act?

The first places that came up to our mind are Wacken and Hellfest but it would also be great to rattle the walls of Whisky a Go Go.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Let’s dream big: Kamelot, Epica, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, and there are many more from the Scandinavian metal scenery, but we are also open to any requests.

9. Whom not?

We didn't think about it, yet because since we started, our goal was to get to as many places as possible so that they could get to know our music, and so far we've only had good experiences.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

There is always some healthy excitement present, but it is a good sign that you are not bored performing on stage, and for anybody who has excessive stage fright the medicine is practice, practice, practice. Respect your audience and do your homework fellas and you'll be fine.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mostly the Scandinavian metal genre.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I would say, we didn’t experience such a thing as a member of Terra Nullius, so far.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Of course, we love them. It was a great pleasure and motivation that we received many positive feedbacks right after the start of the band. Every single fan is important to us. We are grateful to everyone for honoring us with their attention. After all, a band is fueled by the love of its audience.

14. What do you think of our site?

Breathingthecore is a great destination for all metalheads from all around the world with the favor in their hearts for any subgenre. We don't know how many enthusiasts are working behind the scenes in order to keep all content up to date, all appreciation for that.
