Interviews About Albums: FLOATING WORLDS - SKYWATCHER (2024)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek Rock project FLOATING WORLDS to ask questions about his album, "SKYWATCHER".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
“Skywatcher” is a ten-song concept album, where the famous journalist Paul Rogers
narrates a very strange and sorrowful case he had covered as a reporter in the past,
about the mysterious disappearance of Winston Smith, a nine-year-old boy who
hoped that by observing the sky through a telescope, he could one night meet his
lost father in a distant star.
A sequence of strange occasions and events led Winston to an intergalactic
adventurous experience, which resulted in his disappearance under unspecified
circumstances, one autumn night in September.
This is our fourth studio album. To achieve the appropriate music coating of
the story of “Skywatcher”, we explored, for the first time, uncharted “music oceans”,
to approach as closely as possible the vibe of our favorite science fiction
movies of the 80s and 90s.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
“Skywatcher” is a title to describe the main character of the story of our album,
Winston Smith. A young boy who was searching with his telescope for his lost father,
among the stars of the sky.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
The music and lyrics of the majority of the songs are written by Andreas V, except for
the song “Nostalgic Alleys” where the music and lyrics are exclusively written by
Mike Papadopoulos, and from the songs “Strange Kid” and “Parade”, where the
music is co-written by Andreas V and Mike Papadopoulos.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
I would pick “Hello From Out There”.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what is it?
The love between father and son is what the story of “Skywatcher” is all about.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
“From a distant quasar light, a telescopic spotter’s eye.
When the stars are shining bright, I can sense that young boy’s smile
Skywatcher, you’re the son of the sky…”
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or
friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Many artists from the 80’s pop rock scene have been important inspirations for this
album such as Alphaville, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Genesis, Starship, Styx, and Toto, to list a few.
8. Something to add?
Many thanks for the interview. Hope you will enjoy our new album
“Skywatcher”, as much as we did.
