Interviews: Ammify

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Cinematic Metal band Ammify from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were working on something together and I (Ammy) for some reason decided to use my name as a verb. And Peter ran with it, and 'Ammifying' a song became how we made it sound us-like, haha! The whole thing is pretty us, to be honest. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

For me there wasn't a genre-picking moment, we just started working on stuff for Funzeez and it locked.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah! I (Ammy) came to record some of my songs a few years before, and also probably previous lifetimes or however that stuff works, haha!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Ammy: Favourite band is an impossible question :P like, one? I'm gonna say, Imogen Heap.

Pete: I have to echo Ammy's response, but to choose one, relating to this album anyway, I'd say Deftones for me

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Ammy: These ones just fell out of my head! Peter's music has a head-unlocking key.

Pete: I tend to picture a scene first, then write something to act as its soundtrack. So but of a weird way to go about it, the results are in this album!

6. Where was your last gig?

Ammy: Does our supercool magic live concert count?

Pete: Yeah like Ammy said, our last gig was performing to five cameras and no audience in front of a green screen!

7. Where would you like to act?

Ammy: Um, Broadway? No no, I kid, TV! No wait! Movies! (I don't understand the question haha)

Pete: I'm gonna assume you mean to perform? I would have to say Europe and Japan for Ammify!

Awesome female-fronted bands

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Ooh! WELL, first, figure out if it's standard nerves or actual anxiety cause tips on each would be different, but if it's the former, just push through! Nerves are what give ya the buzz! If it's actual anxiety then pls see a professional to figure out the best way forward and have e-support from me in case that helps.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are far too many! On this album, I heard so many of my influences coming out that I decided to leave a little subtle Easter egg to them here and there. It'd be so cool if anyone found them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Honestly, I can't think of something that might be classed as weird! Apart from the inappropriate stuff that doesn't count cause they don't count. Besides they get their own song so they can't say we don't give them anything. 

13. What do you think of your fans?

It's wonderful to be surrounded by such love and support and to feel like what you've made is reaching someone enough for them to class themselves as a fan! I'm a fan of that!
