Interviews: Bitterdusk
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal band Bitterdusk from Chile. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out
just like that?
According to my fragile memory (several years ago), we created a list of names,
and Bitterdusk was the chosen one, given that it best reflected the music we
wanted to create at that time.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Slow and heavy music was something that we have always loved since we were
teenagers. Bands like the old Paradise Lost, early Anathema, Entombed, and
somewhat dark music generally call for our attention always. So playing doom
metal was something natural when picking up a guitar.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we were friends from the neighborhood. We would get together to listen to music, drink beer, the classic stuff. So when we decided to start the band, it was
almost natural selection without contests or raffles. Hahaha.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Kurt’s (Drums): Deep Purple
Seba’s (Guitar): Slayer
Leo’s (Bass n Vocals): Entombed
Fabián (Guitar): The Cult
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Generally speaking, we like to write songs that take you on a journey. That
somehow hits you. Music that provokes that "magic" moment. From there, the
influences and intentions that each one has appear, creating the band's own sound. A
heavy, nocturnal sound that generates that kind of trance when listening.
6. Where was your last gig?
Last Friday, April 12, At Mibar, Santiago, Chile.
7. Where would you like to act?
Any spot with good sound and an audience eager for rock and that gets carried
away by the music.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Many bands, but it would be a pleasure to play with Unleashed, Alice Cooper,
Mercufyl Fate, and Triptykon among others.
9. Whom not?
Any band that puts small ego above music.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners
on how to beat that?
I don't remember an episode like that actually, but there is always some kind of anxiety before going on stage. I think that in general, some advice I could give is to
relax and think that if you make a mistake, it will be your social death. hahahaa.
Joke. Relax and let the music do its work.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Without a doubt bands like Entombed, Deep Purple, Desultory, early Paradise
Lost, The Cult, and Dead Can Dance, are bands that have marked our sound in one
way or another.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A boy asked us to stay at his house, to give him some autographs, and then he
didn't go to the show due to "personal" convictions. Weird.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are wonderful and very wise people. hahahaha. I think they are true lovers
of music in general, devotees I would say. I think that is a very present
characteristic in them.
14. What do you think of our site?
I'd say it's a great website, with tons of good information to get up to speed on
the underground. Lots of music to review. (Very good logo also).
15. Something to add?
Thank you very much for the interview, and for the space. And I leave you
invited to listen to our music on the most common streaming platforms. Cheers!
