Interviews: Blackjacket

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band Blackjacket from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I was listening to a radio station out here in LA called KROQ, when one of the DJ’s randomly mentioned a black jacket (article of clothing) in conversation. It caught my attention and I really liked how it sounded and came off the tongue. Once I mentioned it to the fellas, Blackjacket was born. Our logos and branding are based on the Blackjacket Wasp, not an article of clothing, hence the removal of the space between the words and imagery we use.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Hard rock/metal is and has always been a huge part of my life. The musical style allows me to express a wide range of emotions in the writing and performing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve all been part of the LA music scene. After missed opportunities to create together over the years, the stars aligned and Blackjacket was born.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Luca - Sevendust

Chris – Architects

David – Architects

Cheyne – Nine Inch Nails (Really anything Trent Reznor has been in)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

For me personally, it’s a chance to tell the stories of my life and the things that I’ve been through. Hopefully, I am able to connect with and help others who may have had similar experiences.

6. Where was your last gig?

We are a completely brand-new band. The focus has been fully on recording the debut EP up until this point. We are currently ramping up rehearsals and will gig soon.

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be amazing if Weezer heard our brand new cover version of their track, “Say It Ain’t So”, and wanted to do a feature!

9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

As long as you’ve put the hard work and time in at rehearsal, a little bit of nerves is a good thing before shows. Keeps you focused on the task at hand and gets you ready to destroy the stage!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands that inspired us the most in no particular order are Sevendust, Nonpoint, Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Breaking Benjamin, Of Mice and Men, Papa Roach, Bullet for My Valentine, BMTH, Prodigy, Thrice, and Northlane.

11. What do you think of your fans?

They are the best! Everyone has been so supportive even though we are a brand new band who’s just getting started sharing our love for music and passion with the world.

12. What do you think of our site?

The site looks good! It is attention grabbing.
