Interviews: CLEEN

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Stoner Rock/Doom Metal/Sludge Metal band CLEEN from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

It came into existence during the time we started to develop our sound, Jordan came up with it originally as clean, pat wanted to spell it cleen, Jordan wanted it all caps, birthing the name CLEEN. We felt it represented us appropriately at the time and only gained more meaning to each of us as individuals as more time passed

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because it allows us so much room to express ourselves. The stoner/doom genre is one of the most lawless genres to be in and we love that.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

All of us pretty much have known each other for a long time anywhere from 18 years to almost 30 (since little kids)

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Jordan's is definitely Sleep, Pat's is Sonic Youth, and Cooley would tell you anything blues lol

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I'd say it's a mix of inspirations from life events, a wild imagination, and exaggerated concepts of the unknown

6. Where was your last gig?

At Trixie's in Hamtramck, MI for STONER FEST

7. Where would you like to act?

Honestly, everywhere we have fans! lol

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Kyuss? Haha but seriously, we would love to hit the stage with High Desert Queen sometime in the near future as well as Fatso Jetson, and Truck Fighters to name just a few. And get on the bill for larger festivals like Ripplefest and Planet Desert Rock

9. Whom not?

We definitely don't want to play with 8ft tall Iguanians

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

All of us in the band came from previous projects throughout the years and all had our own form of stage fright at one point. Our only advice is give your fans or the crowd everything you got and convey the emotion you put into your songs on stage rather than, the emotions of going on stage

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sleep, Kyuss, QOTSA, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, The Flaming Lips, and Truck Fighters to name a few

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I wouldn't say weird, cause we think this is cool as hell lol but we had someone from brazil post on one of our songs recently and said he was a writer and would love to collaborate on doing a book or graphic novel one day.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are awesome, I love hearing their perception on our music. Thank you all!

It's an amazing site, all of us are signed up on it now thanks to your DJ/host LADY RED (Hi Vicky!)

We appreciate everyone involved in the making of our debut album i.e. Electric Desert Records, Craig from Mixcave Mastering, Ampturco Guitar Werks for the best cables ever, Diemond Star Sticks for the best drum sticks, Dylan Pluta who filmed our music video for Planet 332b, our album Artist Raven Slater, our album Photography from Samantha Newman, and every person who heard CLEEN and decided to tell their friends.
