Interviews: Devilskin

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Metal band Devilskin from New Zealand. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out just like that?

The idea came from some lyrics our singer Jennie penned. It was about a relationship breakup and told how someone could be an angel one day and a devil the next. Changing skins to suit. It stuck and we made it our own!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I have always loved rock and metal. I think we all grew up with a healthy love and respect for good music with power and meaning. It's a no-brainer when you are all passionate about the same thing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, our different bands played together a bit and we were all big fans of each other's work. I'd known Nic, our drummer since he was a baby :)

4. Each band member's favorite band?

The nail would be Pantera, Nic probably Sleep Token, Jennie loves Deftones, and my favorite is Black Sabbath.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Anything and everything. We have written songs about friends' suicides, car accidents, getting robbed, love, heartbreak, and cynicism!

6. Where was your last gig?

Homegrown festival Wellington NZ 16th March 24. With 14,000 friends.

7. Where would you like to act?

On big stages at festivals in Europe!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have played alongside many of our heroes, and would love to play on a bill with Rob Zombie again!

9. Whom not?

Puff Daddy

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, exercises, warm-ups, tequila.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Sabbath, Motorhead, Stranglers, Halestorm, Sumo Cyco, Sevendust, Rammstein.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign unmentionable body parts.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We absolutely LOVE our fans. It's amazing to get to meet these people over a pure love for music. Finding out how they discovered us and what our music means to them is absolutely the best feeling.

14. What do you think of our site?

Kick ass!!! Turn it up!

15. Something add?

Thanks for your time and for continuing to support live music and musicians! We couldn't do what we do without you all.
