Interviews: Liljevars Brann

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Mystical Black Metal band Liljevars Brann from Germany. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were searching for a band name that transports kind of a nature mystical vibe. First, we wanted to call ourselves just “Brann” but somehow it seemed too simple. So we invented the new word “Liljevars” and combined it with “Brann”. So Liljevars Brann was born.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We are not stuck in a certain genre but definitely, we play a very moody and atmospheric kind of mid-tempo black metal combined with acoustic dark folk. We love the contrasts and we love the melancholy of the nature of mystical black metal bands like Ulver created a long time ago. So we simply love playing this kind of music and with Liljevars Brann we would like to explore it further.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we have known each other for more than thirty years and played together in different bands. With Liljevars Brann found a new playground to channel our creativity.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Sjelvindur: Ulver, Darkthrone, At the Gates

Kristjan: Katatonia, Primordial, Insomnium

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We are inspired by nature and the great mysteries of life and being.

6. Where was your last gig?

With Liljevars Brann we haven't played any live gigs so far.

7. Where would you like to act?

Somewhere in the forest playing live around a fire with just a small audience of spiritual people.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Ulver and Darkthrone.

9. Whom not?

Megadeth.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

It's totally ok to be a bit nervous before going on stage. Just focus on yourself and what you wanna express with your music on stage. And then rock the house. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Definitely, bands that created something new and original. Skyclad for example but also Ulver, The 3rd and The Mortal, The Cure, or Paradise Lost.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

An autograph maybe, haha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Hopefully, we will have some fans for Liljevars Brann who are really deep into our music.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's great. Because you give space also for yet unknown bands like Liljevars Brann. Really cool.
