Interviews: The Mendenhall Experiment

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band The Mendenhall Experiment from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or come out just like that?

The Mendenhall Experiment: stems from the literal experiment... Can the dude with Cerebral Palsy form a band, write a successful collection of songs, and then elevate said band to a national level of success?

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I'd say we play "active radio metal" However Metal in general has always given me an outlet and a refuge when I've felt lost and broken. To have that opportunity to carry the torch and help others in that same way is a blessing if not a civic duty.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Brandon and Justin went to High School together and jammed in Justin's garage, long before reconnecting together in The Mendenhall Experiment -Justin and Alyce jammed together in a metalcore band before joining The Mendenhall Experiment as for the other members they all met through various connections in the local music community

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Brandon: Korn

Mike: Metallica

Nate: Alice In Chains

Justin: Periphery

Alyce: AlterBridge / Tina Turner

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Having the gift of the opportunity to inspire someone, keeps me writing, the chance to make a positive impact in our ever-changing, often bleak world is inspiration enough, but we often get fan testimonials that keep us inspired to continue.

6. Where was your last gig?

The Arcadia Houston TX with Scream At The Sky, April 2024

7. Where would you like to act?

Brandon: In an episode of The Walking Dead, my natural limp from my Cerebral Palsy would make me the perfect Zombie.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Tony Iomi, cause he's the OG disabled metal guitarist. The Godfather

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Butterflies are a normal part of the process as long as they are present it means you still care about the outcome of your performance. You naturally get through them quickly, just go for it.

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Korn. Pantera, NIN, Rob Zombie.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To spread a family member's ashes at a major festival.

12. What do you think of your fans?

The fans are EVERYTHING, 💯% why we keep doing this, as long as it means something to them, we will remain.

13. What do you think of our site? 

Very cool site that tapped into the underground.
