Interviews: Relicon

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melancholic Metal band Relicon from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

AP: It was somewhat planned. It is a combination of the words "relic" and "icon". I think it had something to do with "Paradise Lost" ;)

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

AP: I have always loved melancholic metal music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

AP: Yeah. Mikko and Tommi are my work colleagues. Tuukka has been in the band the longest and he has seen all the iterations of the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mikko: Moonsorrow

Tuukka: Plini

AP: Paradise Lost

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

AP: I've been trying to figure that out myself. Friends, hardships, introspection, nature, perspectives...

6. Where was your last gig?

AP: At the moment the current lineup only records songs together, we don't practice together or perform live shows. I would like to get my band together again, though. A previous lineup did a couple of local gigs back in 2006.

7. Where would you like to act?

AP: You mean where we would like to perform live? I guess anywhere since I would be honored to be able to perform live once again ;)

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

AP: Vincent Cavanagh, Jonas Renkse, Nick Holmes, Frank Klepacki...

9. Whom not?

AP: I have no answer to this one.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

AP: I probably suffered from stage fright at every gig I ever did!

Tip: it gets easier and more fun the more you dare to perform.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

AP: Anathema, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

AP: I got nothing.

13. What do you think of your fans?

AP: I cherish them. Thank you for your support, each and every one of you :)

14. What do you think of our site?

AP: Good design, simple, clean, and effective. It works just nicely.

15. Something to add?

AP: I want to thank my loving wife, family, relatives, friends, fans... Thank you!
