Interviews: Ventures

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Ventures from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name may have seemed random at first, but it just clicked perfectly. Initially, we didn't even plan on releasing music, just jamming and enjoying ourselves. We toyed with various names, even considering one inspired by a roller shutter brand at one point! Then, someone suggested "Adventure," capturing the spirit of what we wanted to explore. Within days, it evolved into "Ventures" – inviting others to join us on this musical journey.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal and metalcore possess a unique versatility, seamlessly transitioning from intense riffs to laid-back 808 beats. This fluidity is astounding, almost as if they were born in tandem. Contrary to common belief, metal has never been confined by rigid rules.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Most of us did. Richard, Ollie, and Jordan have been friends since their teenage years, with Jordan and Richard previously playing in a band together back in 2009. Jon joined us later, relocating to Manchester in 2018. We found him through Joinmyband.com when we were searching for a new drummer.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

We have quite a diverse taste among us!

Ollie’s - The Devil Wears Prada

Richard’s - Busted

Jordan’s - Cleopatric

Jon’s - Cane Hill

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Each of us has our own motivations, but when it comes to Ventures, I believe we rely on each other's input the most. While I've heard stories of bands finding inspiration by listening to entire albums, I think if everyone followed that approach, they might all end up sounding too similar. Perhaps that's why pop music hasn't seen much change lately.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our latest performance was at the incredible Niallfest, an annual charity event held in memory of our friend who tragically passed away before his 18th birthday. We had the honour of sharing the stage with outstanding bands like "Virtue in Vain" and "SparrowHawk," among others.

7. Where would you like to perform?

As a band, we dream of playing at iconic venues like the Ritz or O2. However, if we had to choose one ultimate venue for a final show, it would undoubtedly be something like the Download Festival. I mean, who wouldn't want that?

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

If we had the opportunity to plan our ideal tour, it would feature our favourite bands mentioned earlier. Picture a lineup with acts like Busted, DWP, and perhaps even Fightstar.

9. Whom not?

Anyone who doesn't understand respect!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I think we've all felt it at some point. Personally, I feel it every time before we go on stage. Despite the fear of embarrassing mishaps, like messing up or stumbling, I remind myself that it would be even more embarrassing for me has not gone up and for people to miss out on discovering a new or favourite band. That's just my take on it. (Rich)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Given our diverse musical preferences, we aim to avoid bringing too much of our individual tastes into the writing process. Instead, we typically gather in a room and brainstorm ideas collectively, or someone might come up with a rough concept initially. Once everyone has contributed their input, the song can sometimes undergo significant transformations.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Fortunately, we haven't encountered that so far. Typically, we're just asked for the usual stuff like photos and setlists.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Ventures began in 2017 because of our love for music and fans from old bands. The joy of performing music live is what drives us all. We prioritize playing shows over being in the studio. While writing and recording are incredible experiences, they wouldn't be possible without the support of our fans.

14. What do you think of our site?

Well-built and functional, it's nice to see pages like these updated daily

15. Something to add?

Thank you for having the time anything else you’d like to know can be found on our website along with all our music www.venturesband.com
