Interviews: Dead Days

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band Dead Days from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or did it come out just like that?

Dead Days came from the name of an old song I wrote in a previous band. It's basically built on the idea that "the past is dead" or that feeling we get about the past and how things will never feel like they used to.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I've always had a love for alternative and heavy emotional music since I was a kid. Started with mind-blowing Canadian bands like Alexisonfire and Silverstein. Playing this type of music covers literally every emotion and it hits people hard in all the best ways.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We all know each other from previous bands, myself (Don), being the main link between us all. I was in previous bands with each member and specifically picked each guy based on past experiences and knowing they were hard-working, talented, and wanted what I wanted from music.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Don - Nickleback

Wayne - Stick to Your Guns

Jeff - Every Time I Die

Adam - He Is Legend

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything, to be honest. Reading, movies, and conversations in life, all spark thoughts about writing music. I feel like every new song I/we write gets better than the last. Growing and learning from each song inspires us to write the next one.

6. Where was your last gig?

Niagara Falls, ON, and Hamilton, ON.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to break into the larger Toronto music scene and we are working towards playing in the USA in the next year.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Personally, I would love to have a feature from Morgan Lander of Kittie on a song. They are from our home town and they are amazing.

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I have but it was pretty mild! I have been a vocalist for almost 20 years and I have played crowds of 2500 to crowds of 2 people. I still get those nerves about 5 minutes before we hit the stage but it's such a unique and adrenalin-filled moment that I welcome it now. To beat it, all I can offer for advice is to enjoy the chaos, drink lots of water, and enjoy yourself. All the hard work deserves the attention you're about to hopefully get!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

So many! Bands like Alexisonfire, Silverstein, Wage War, Make Them Suffer, Nickleback, Ed Sheeran, Simple Plan, and The Plot in You. The list is endless! They have all given me different things to think about and strive for.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Probably the weirdest is that a few people have asked me if I had info, merch, or EPs from a previous band I was in a few years ago. They tracked me down by finding my new band and decided it was a great idea to reach out to the band accounts to get information.

12. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are amazing. Knowing our music has reached people all over the world is incredible. They reach out and let us know how much they love our music and they show their friends, it's all we can ask for.

13. What do you think of our site?

It's great! You shine a light on bands like us and it's greatly appreciated!

14. Something to add?

Check out our new single 'ROT' on all the platforms and the music video on Youtube! We have a pretty large catalog of music to check out and we have something stylistically for everyone.
