Interviews: Manapart

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal/Nu-Metal band Manapart from Armenia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Like always - it's a big brainstorming process that takes tons of ideas and options to choose the one and only. The original version was 'Man apart' - but when you're in choosing a name for a band, you gotta check if there is no other band using this name. We've found the band, and also a movie. So the next idea was to simply remove the space and have a Manapart instead. And it worked. Now we also have a good philosophical explanation - there is no man that can feel and be truly apart from anything, even from a word Apart, so it's not a man apart, it's Manapart.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

There wasn't a formed desire to play in a certain genre. And we're trying not to separate the music by specific flows - every song has different influences in it. Anyways, we were quite familiar with the alternative rock and nu-metal of the late 90s and the early 2000s - Korn, SOAD, Linkin Park, etc. It's in our blood - so it felt natural writing music that's based on these roots.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. Because there was a previous band with almost the same crew. Arty, Arman, and Zach were part of a cover band named WishUp - the band was playing SOAD songs and giving a few live shows. Afterward, with some changes within the band structure, it was decided to start writing our own music. We've found Ivan (our bass player) and the band became complete.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Arty - Rammstein

Ivan - Radiohead

Zach - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Arman - Dimmu Borgir

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life itself. There is so much stuff going on around us!

6. Where was your last gig?

It was in Yerevan - Armenia.

7. Where would you like to act?

Now that is a tough question. Everywhere? Of course, we're watching all those big festivals and stadium concerts by the bands that inspire us - and we surely wanna do all of these as well.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It's hard to say. On one hand, it would be awesome to collaborate with the artists who inspired us and that we've been looking up to as kids, on the other - something experimental with a very different genre would be much more interesting composition-wise.

9. Whom not?

We don't think that naming exact artists here would be appropriate. Let's just say that we wouldn't like to work with somebody who doesn't share the same ideas and main values as we do.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We wouldn't consider ourselves as pros yet in this matter. But we think that having a stage fright is fine - it means that you care! Just don't dig into that too much. And as for the tips - you should always remember, that when you're performing - people are not there to judge, they've come to your show because they love your music and because they want to share this live experience with you, so let it all go and have fun on stage. But don't forget to practice first!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Let's not pretend like we don't know, haha. We have different bands that have formed our musical tastes, but the one in common is System of a Down.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Not a weird thing but a cool thing - when we were touring there was a guy who walked up to us asking to sign his hand! The next day he sent us a picture that he made a big tattoo with our autographs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We don't think, we know that they're beautiful lovely people with great musical preferences! Jokes aside - we're thankful to the people who listen to our music, go to our concerts, spend their time with us on our live streams, and much more. You can't be happier knowing that your art gets to someone else's soul and that it stays there.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love it! And we're happy to be a part of it!

15. Something to add?

Just keep on listening to the good music. And never stop exploring - there is always a good song for you out there.
