Interviews: Johnny Foreigner

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Indie Rock band Johnny Foreigner from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Constantly feeling like outsiders in our scene. It was a joke because the folks who used it in a xenophobic way ended up relying on all the Johnny Foreigners. It's been hijacked after Brexit by xenophobes again tho,😓 and ruined our Google searches

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Doesn't feel like a genre to us; just excellent taste! We are a melting pot of everything we grew up listening to!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, Birmingham has very few people with excellent taste so we gravitate towards each other!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Lewes: At The Drive In

Jun: Glom

Kelly: Guns n Roses

Alexei: Life Without Buildings

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Magic + chaos + stories + ghosts 6. Where was your last gig? Osaka! (We are on tour in Japan)

7. Where would you like to act?

Spain, please!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

At the Drive In, Glom, Life Without Buildings

9. Whom not?

Guns and Roses.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Always! It's not worth doing if it doesn't mean something! My advice is just to close your eyes.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

DIY punks. Bands that could be famous and boring but choose to be impoverished and interesting. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Stage towels. A slightly creepy but unique gig souvenir

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're all beautiful. And have excellent taste
