Behind The Tracks: MetronimiA - Yanez (Single) (2024)
Metronimia, the progressive rock band from Italy, has released their new single Yanez, a tribute to the Portuguese corsair Yanez de Gomera, the iconic character created by Emilio Salgari and loyal companion to Sandokan. Released via Volcano Records, Yanez blends old-school progressive sounds with a modern, personal style, marking a new artistic chapter for Metronimia. With a strong melodic and harmonic structure, the track weaves complex musical atmospheres with a catchy chorus, appealing both to prog enthusiasts and a broader rock audience.
Formed in 2018 as a Jethro Tull cover band, Metronimia has redefined itself with an authentic sound inspired by Deep Purple, Ivan Graziani, and Premiata Forneria Marconi. Their choice to sing in Italian doesn’t limit the band’s international appeal but rather pays homage to the legacy of Italian prog rock, which has made a global impact. Yanez, composed by Lorenzo Armando, Filippo Avena, and Davide Bagnis, with lyrics by Elisa Marchiaro, is more than just a celebration of a literary character. It’s also a statement of wisdom and creativity that resonates in a modern world often lacking these values.
Available on all platforms and accompanied by a concept video on YouTube, Yanez signals a promising future for Metronimia—a young band already showing remarkable maturity.
