In this new interview, we sat down with the Swedish Avant-Garde band Lamashtu to ask questions about their album, "Längtan".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Längtan is a story about both the young Viking man Joar and the Mesopotamian girl Eli. He longs for death and she longs for a sense of connection and family.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Längtan means longing. Often this is seen in connection to love but here it has a double or even triple meaning since it is in connection to finding one truth whether that is in life or in the afterlife.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

We are four composers of the CD: Azura (guitar), Janus (guitar), Lamashtu (vocal) and Naberius (keys). We collaborated to write almost all the songs, and this was new to us. Some songs were written more heavily by some composers which I think makes the album dynamically more strong.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Mer än allt is the last song of the album and was I think the first one to be ready. This was includes many different sections that brings forth our sound and is a song that always captivates us while playing it live.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what is it?

The message is that life is more complex than it seems. You have to make sure that you trust the right people and even if you do things might go wrong. In the end, you control your own fate.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically we include previous inspirations such as The Shining, Rammstein, and Haken.

I would like to thank the incarnation of Lamashtu for coming together like this (former and current members) and also people that have supported the work when finishing the album e.g. The Toilet that did the recording of the drums together with Fredrik as well as did the mixing.
