Interviews About Albums: Tenebrous LIAR - Hell Never Called (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Rock band Tenebrous LIAR to ask questions about their album, "Hell Never Called".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

I thought it was the last one, put everything into it - now we want to start work on another - it’s our first album in 8 years, and I think the next gap will be smaller.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

It is a play on words, our guitar player Aimee sent a message relating to bass player Brendan’s sometimes poor telephonic communication skills “he’ll never call”, she was right, my response became the album title “hell never called”

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Some songs on this album are improvisations, some developed from my demos, and others developed from improvised ideas.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

The Waves - my favourite tenebrous LIAR song… it’s a rehearsal room improvisation.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what is it?

No.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“How many tattooed hearts make a man? Ink drips like blood into a wave, salt splashed wounds throb & burn”… actually, maybe Tattooed Hearts is my favorite tenebrous LIAR song.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

For me, the 1970 Dutch concert film ‘Stamping Ground’.

8. Something to add?

Thanks very much for taking an interest.
