Interviews: Insult

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Insult from the UK. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan
it, or did it just come out like that?

A guy used to take the mick out of Onslaught by calling it Insult. He used to ask how Insult we’re getting on. (Meaning Onslaught). That’s how the name came about. The band Insult was originally formed by members, roadies, and ex-members of Onslaugh,t playing covers back in the 80s.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The genre just happened. We all enjoyed how we sounded, so we’ve stuck with it. Angry Metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we all knew each other originally. When we reformed, we had to get new guitarists, so these guys are new, although they are local to us all and have grown up together.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

At the moment, it’s Mammoth (Wolfgang Van Halen)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life as we know it. There’s always something going on in the world that has a profound impact on everyone. Let’s fight a song and get angry together.

6. Where was your last gig?

Swindon, UK. “The Wings of Angels Festival” in memory of the late great vocalist Steve Grimmett. What a lovely bloke he was. Didn’t wake up one day. On his daughter’s birthday of all days!

7. Where would you like to play?

Everywhere I’ve already played and more.

8. Who would you like to support?

Any band that I can’t. I mean, as they have gone. It'd be great to play with the same Motörhead I supported back in the Orgasmatron Tour. Just to catch up. It’s only Phil Campbell who’s still alive from back then. It would be great to see them all again, though.

9. Who not?

Bananrama. I don’t think they’ll like us. Though I do like them.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I think everyone has. I was told just believe you’re at rehearsal. It worked for me. That’s the best way to start.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Rush, Metallica, Creed, Mammoth, The Ruts

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

My steak was eating. It was cooked rare, and I liked my steak medium. I handed it to him. He ate it like a starving dog (with hands). It was in a restaurant in Belgium in 1986.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Love every one of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Extremely full of everything. I'm going to enjoy reading everything on it. I can’t believe it’s a one-man operation. There are thousands and thousands of hours gone into that site! Do you have insomnia?

Take everything steadily. Don’t rush into things. Keep your feet on the ground.
