Interviews: Dead Superstar
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Rock band Dead Superstar from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out like that?
It was a late-night TV binge-watching. Just surfing along some network shows, and I came
across “How the Universe Works”. The Episode was on Black Holes & Supernovas. There
it was, Dead Superstar! I said to myself, “ THAT’S IT!”
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I love the energy that rock music presents and the
power that it transmits to the audience. Most importantly, my soul.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
The original lineup, yeah.
Before Dead Superstar, I shared the stage with Craig Matalon & Troi Mosby in
Perseverance. Troi is no longer in the band.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Terence: R.A.T.M
Jess: Since Terence already said, I’ll give it to my Long Beach boys Sublime
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life!
6. Where was your last gig?
I think our last gig was a Benefit show for the victims of the hurricanes in the Carolinas.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Terence: Red Rock
Jess: The Moon
Charlie: The Sphere, Jones Beach Theater
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Terence: NIN, Sevendust, Shinedown, Coheed & Cambria, Clutch.
Jess: Clutch, muse, megadeth, dream theatre.
Charlie: Down, Pantera, Clutch, Coffee and Cambria, King's X
9. Who not?
Terence: Not sure how to answer that one…Um, what Jess said..
Jess: Any racist, fascist, or otherwise hateful groups?
Charlie: Any band/performer I didn't respect?
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?
Terence: Yes, my first real show I opened for Biohazard, 25 ta Life, & E town Concrete. Shit
was wild!
Charlie: Yes, of course. A Lot in the beginning when I first started performing, then you just learn
to block it out and enjoy yourself.
11. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Charlie: Practice your ass off, till you know all the songs and every little change without having to think at
all. Once playing, it is just automatic, you can focus on having fun while you're up there. Takes
most of the worry and 'freight' away.
Jess: hell yea usually anything that is new ground or a first usually has me a little uptight
examples being the first time I played a wedding ceremony, the first time sitting in w a new
band, first time recording audio and video scenes for professional tv show… otherwise if
I’m doing any of my regular things w my regular peeps i'm good.
Terence: Be humble, confident & try not to
sweat it.
12. What bands have inspired you the most?
Terence: The Doors, Soundgarden, Rollins
band, Charlie-Bands that the bassist isn't hiding in the background... Onstage or on the albums? lol
Down, Rancid, RHCP, Rush, Iron Maiden, Kings X.
13. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Terence: To sign this guy, Harley in Wyoming!
Charlie: Nothing weird yet! Haha
Have been asked to sign autographs a few times... That's always a surreal feeling.
14. What do you think of your fans?
Supportive
15. What do you think of our site?
It looks like you got it going on! Love that you're
supporting up-and-coming bands! KEEP IT UP!
16. Something to add?
I’m always looking to meet new people and expand my horizons of
other people's lives and energy
