Interviews: Metal Charm
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band Metal Charm from Turkey. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or come out just like that?
Volkan: Actually, we were all looking for a band name together. Each of us had different band backgrounds. We decided on Metal Charm as a common decision. We wanted it to be catchy.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Volkan: We had been trying to make music in this genre for years, but the guitars were a bit too easy. Inevitably, we started to make songs with similar riffs. With the influence of the M.Ege, we were able to switch to a more melodic style. We want to develop this style even more with each new work.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Volkan: We haven't known each other for a long time, but it took us a long time to find each other because making music in this genre in this country is a bit of a challenge. Metal Charm took its final form after many personnel changes.
Senem: Yes, we have known each other for 5 years from another band, and now I am in Metal Charm.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Volkan: If I say the first five of my favorite bands, In Flames, Death, King Diamond, At The Gates, and The Crown...
Senem: Actually, At the Gates.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Volkan: I've been interested in dystopian stories for a long time, and I've read a lot of classic novels about it. Because it suits our music as well, writing about the destruction of the world, things getting worse, dark themes, the idea that we are constantly being controlled, etc. Makes us more expressive.
Senem: Our drummer, Volkan, inspires me a lot and helps me in this situation
6. Where was your last concert?
Volkan: I think our last concert was in Antalya, Turkey. It's been almost a year since then, and during that time, we have been working on recording the new album. Obviously, we wanted to reflect our energy directly into the album, so we had to take a break from concerts, but now we are open to all offers. We are a very harmonious band. If anyone wants to invite us to their city, please contact us.
7. Where would you like to act?
Volkan: I can't think of any place. A good stage and sound system is enough...
Senem: Maybe in Wacken...
8. Who would you like to perform with?
Volkan: Honestly, it would be nice to perform with In Flames or The Crown.
Senem: Black Dahlia Murder
9. Not with whom?
Volkan: It makes no difference for us, believe me. As long as there is an audience and the sound system is good, we can play anywhere.
10. Do any of you have stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on how to overcome it?
Volkan: We are really comfortable on stage. Every single member is as if they were born for this. I guess our common point is to reflect all our energy on stage.
Senem: I am lucky that I have never suffered on stage because I have been on stage for many years. When I was a 9-year-old child, I had a piano concert. Long story short, it takes years to get used to it.
11. Which bands inspire you the most?
Volkan: Everyone will give different answers, but I think I can say all melodic death metal bands.
Senem: Behemoth, Draconian, Beyond Creation
12. What's the strangest thing a fan has ever asked you?
Volkan: There are many strange requests, but I think someone once asked our vocalist for his boots.
Senem: When I was a bass player, a young boy asked me to give him a pick.
13. What do you think about your fans?
Volkan: It's a bit difficult in Turkey to be honest. Our relations with the audience are very limited because there are very few venues and concerts. Also, there is more interest in foreign bands in our country. Unfortunately, we are a bit in the background.
Senem: They are crazy and very funny.
14. What do you think about our website?
Volkan: The infrastructure of your website is really nice. You support many bands like us. We are grateful for that.
15. Is there anything you would like to add?
Volkan: We invite everyone to listen to Metal Charm. They should definitely listen to our last album. We will keep on producing. We are not leaving, we are here...
