Interviews: Seewolf

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Indie Rock band Seewolf from the Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it come out like that?

We practice and record in this old dykhouse close to the sea, and I had this novel of Jack London called ‘Der Seewolf’, and in the Frisian language, you write Sea as See. So we thought it was a cool name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Well, that actually just originated and felt good and inspiring.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We knew each other a little bit from the music scene and from other bands we played in.

4. Between the four of you, could you each tell us your favourite band?

Joop: Radiohead

Willem: Interpol

Bram: Porcupine Tree

Dolf: The Strokes

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The Northern landscape, the vastness, and people, and the world as it is today.

6. Where was your last gig?

Record Store Day in @ Plato Zwolle, Plato Deventer, and the Boothill Saloon in Amerfoort

7. Where would you like to perform?

Glastonbury and End of the Road festival

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Lots of artists, but if I can choose one…I guess Fontaines DC

9. Who not?

Nickelback

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? If so, do you have any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Not that I know of…maybe a bit of nervousness. Maybe do a little meditation before you go on stage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Lots of bands, but to name a few, Radiohead for their inventive drum rhythms and soundscapes, Oasis for their Loudness Master techniques, The Doors for their live playing each song every time a different length, etc. Playing in the moment and always anticipating the wild and unpredictable Jim Morrison.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To do a signature on a bottle of wine

13. What do you think of your fans?

Very special and valuable

14. What do you think of our site?

Nice site, and good that you represent different genres.

15. Something to add?

Not really
