Track By Tracks: Marea - Adrift (2025)
1. Useless:
The first riff of this song is very "Sounds of Decay/Brave Murder Day" style, and I find it quite...
catchy?? compared to my usual compositions. So, I thought it was the perfect song for an official
music video. The middle part of the track is more Depressive Black metal-oriented, with sharp
guitar riffs and high-pitched screams. The lyrics are about a lack of motivation, seeing the world in
grey, and feeling adrift in life.
2. Rusted:
I wrote this song last July during a terrible sleepless night. So, I put those feelings into music and
(not surprisingly) it turned out to be one of the most depressive songs I've ever written. The lyrics
are a metaphor for depression in a sea-related concept.
3. Marea:
I wrote this long instrumental piece back in 2009 and decided to re-record it professionally, along
with the other two songs from the new EP. I found this old composition of mine on my old iPod, and
it was hard to remember how to play the riffs by ear as I never wrote a tablature. If you consider
that there are some riffs in this song where 4/5 guitars play together, playing different melodies, you
can understand why it was so hard to recreate it by ear! The track starts very quietly with acoustic
guitars and soft keyboards. After a tense and rather dark middle section, it goes back to quiet
melodies and seagull sounds, like the calm after a storm…Then it has a final crescendo again. I
can't think of anything but a lonely beach with gentle waves while listening to this song, that's why I
called it “Marea”. It's also one of the compositions I'm most proud of, so it definitely deserves the
name of my musical project.
