Interviews: Hessian

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Blackened Death Metal band Hessian from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out like that? 

The name represents the one who will find pleasure in this, as is the one who created it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

To pay homage to the old ones.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band has had a collective of members over the last 2 decades that I (Laremy) chose, and most of them were known from former projects with the exception of the collaborations, which have been new individuals with whom we have a mutual goal or interest.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Based on our last discussions, bands such as Mayhemic (Chile), Korium/Trist, Gomold, Blasfemator, YHWH, Ulver, Parabellum, Mutiilation, Conqueror, Morbid Angel, Xasthur.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The old ones.

6. Where was your last gig?

We have yet to play a show as it is not intended at this phase of the ritual.

7. Where would you like to act?

There is no act greater than the divine comedy we exist in, and the layers of hell we traverse in one form or another.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We have collaborated with artists and musicians from about every continent and are always seeking to expand the horde whether collaborating with vocalists on tracks or doing split albums with bands. We have a few upcoming split albums with some of our favorite bands, but we don't want to give it away too soon. Stay tuned to find out.

9. Who not? 

Those who are devoid of actual substance to their existence.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

The best word of advice is to block out every creature in the audience until you imagine yourself in your room alone, just like you created or practiced it. Of course, there are a few herbal remedies that seem to work well for anxiety that I appreciate.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Bands such as Morbid Angel, Ripping Corpse, Necrovore, Absu, Sarcofago, Parabellum, early Cannibal Corpse, and Mystifier, who have had an extensive past, along with a certain underlying ideal that paralleled their music. I don't really like music that has no reason, no fuel. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Marriage, and who knows??? Maybe we'll try it out one day...

13. What do you think of your fans?

A dangerous crew, a motley crew, waning warlocks who lust to summon the black gods of the old world, total metal maniacs and hellbent Hessians.... Bent on consuming primal power and raw noise. What more could I ask for? lol.

14. What do you think of our site? 

Very informative for both young and old farts. Tons of bands and interviews.... Well done.

15. Something to add? 

You never know what is in store for you when calling on the dark. If you are looking for previous releases that have been in digital format, stay informed as most of them are available on physical media now, which is our preference. Physical Media Supremacy.
