Interviews: Rick Monroe And The Hitmen

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Southern Rock/Rock band Rick Monroe And The Hitmen from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out like that?

I was joking that the guys “killed it” every night, and someone said like “Hitmen” and it just seemed to fit.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Honestly, we don’t really consider the genre when we write and record. We just want to create music we enjoy, and hopefully that translates to all kinds of fans and can cross genre lines.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Not really, Bobby (Guitar) filled in on my solo gig and just ended up replacing the other guy. Alan (Bass) was also just a fill-in from of an old drummer, who’s no longer here, and then came Jason, who was brought in by the Producer of the Six Gun Soul album.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

That’s impossible because everyone has so many influences. I’d say Bobby is more Metal, Prog & Active Rock. Alan & I are both big singer-songwriter/ 70s fans, while Jason is a mix of Jazz /Grunge. We are all over the map!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life is the biggest influence. You just have to look around and keep your mind and ears open because song ideas are everywhere.

6. Where was your last gig?

Suck Bang Blow Spring Bike Rally Murrells Inlet

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d love to get back to Europe. We love the music fans over there.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’ve been really fortunate to play with some amazing bands, but I’d personally have to say: Aerosmith, Metallica, or The Rolling Stones

9. Whom not?

I can’t really think of anyone I wouldn’t want to tour with.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I tend to suffer more from off-stage fright, but if you love to play music, there is nothing better than getting to do it in front of a crowd!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

That’s tough because I grew up listening to Country & Metal and have been influenced by all of them.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Sign her belly when she was pregnant and then her baby the next time we came around 🤷‍♂️

13. What do you think of your fans?

I like to think of them as more a part of our musical family, not as fans. We couldn’t do anything without them, so they are everything to us.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool, I dig the “Track by Track“ & “Behind the Artwork” sections 🤘

15. Something you'd like to add?

Just thank you for supporting music and helping bands spread the word.
