Behind The Artworks: Necht - The Inevitable Suffering (2025)

We continue to explore the myths and stories of the ancient, sun-worshipping Cult of B’ahn and their foe, the Ishpani, delving into the lore of the mysterious, lost civilization of the Enkari in order to draw out lessons for the listener of the day.

For the Enkari, there was great wisdom and learning to be gleaned from dreams and visions. During the Fourth Siege of Ishpan, High Zenith Maleth, leader of the Cult of B'ahn, received a vision of a pile of skulls, which he interpreted as a sign of their imminent success over their enemy. The Cult knew that they battled on this earth to reinforce the cosmic struggle of the sun-god, B’ahn, the Titan of the Skies, against his all-consuming Mother, the Dragon Karnifor. They also knew that failure was worse than death, for failure would usher in the Dragon’s apocalypse and doom the whole world to oblivion; thus, they accepted the burden of their own suffering as a necessary part of life and indeed welcomed it as a part of their holy battle for salvation. The ghostly cover art captures this ethereal relationship with death, and the vision of the High Zenith, perfectly.
