Interviews: Chronepsis
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band Chronepsis from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?
EC: We were hunting hard for a band name.. I had this idea to look up words associated with medieval stuff like Dungeons and Dragons, and all that stuff.. I went on a D&D wiki page and started looking up creature names, and location names, and I saw "Chronepsis" and thought it sounded cool.. Obviously, it has a whole story and lore behind who he is...
Chronepsis is the dragon (https://dungeonsdragons.fandom.com/wiki/Dragon_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons) deity of Fate, Death, and Judgment. His symbol is an unblinking draconic eye.
CC: nah, the name took forever to figure out. Originally, we had something else, but that clearly didn't stick. So we kept throwing names in the hat, and names that weren’t taken. Then that one random day one day Eric found Chronepsis, and it stuck. For good reason, cause it’s a badass name.
TW: It's tough finding a good band name. There was a criterion we set for how we wanted to be represented. We had a group chat with a rolling list we each added to until we found one that stuck for a bit, but it never quite felt right. Then Eric came up with the name Chronepsis, and it was instantly adopted, and we never looked back
2. Why did you choose this genre?
EC: I've always loved Metal.. we all have... This wasn't really a choice; this is what came out when we started writing.
CC: The freedom to be a creature.
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
EC: Chris and I have known each other since we were kids. He and Torr had been talking through a mutual friend, and Chris was tattooing me at the time, and getting in my ear about jamming. We got together, and I knew pretty quick we had something going. I reached out to Mike, whom I had played in Curser with years before, and we were introduced to Vin from our good friend Ben Surbeck from Coronary Thrombosis...
4. What is each band member’s favorite band?
EC: Probably Arsis. That band is criminally underrated.

5. Who or what inspired you to write songs?
