Interviews About Albums: KRYN - Risset (2024)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Croatian Modern Metal band KRYN to ask questions about their album, "Risset".

1. What can you say about this new CD?

This is our second album, named "Risset" released through Install/SPV, and we're very happy with how it came out.  The album sounds more mature because we are always in pursuit of writing good, catchy, melodic, yet powerful and emotional songs.  Risset is a representation of all that.

2. What is the meaning of the CD name?

Risset is an antipsychotic medicine, or simply a pill... It is used as maintenance therapy for the treatment of schizophrenia, a disease in which you may see, hear, or feel things that are not really around you, believe things that are not true, or feel unusually suspicious or disturbed. If you dive deep into the lyrics and themes of the album, you'll know exactly why we chose this name. Also on this album, we have a new lineup, so in a way it's a play on words because it sounds like a "reset" and it hints at a clean start after a reset has been done.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD?

Karlo (vocals, guitar) is our main composer throughout this one, but also Marko (bass) and the other guys are involved in arranging and polishing the details.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

That's hard to choose, some days I would pick Recharger, some days Rewind... It depends on the mood. But Rewind definitely has something special to be the next big hit if you ask me.

5. Is there a special message on this CD? If there is what it is?

If you’re struggling with any kind of mental health challenge, the most important thing to remember is that you’re not alone, and there’s always a way forward. Everyone is fighting their own battles and demons. What truly matters is talking about it and finding a way to let it out. For me, writing songs and creating music has been the outlet for my struggles. I hope this album resonates with you and helps you release what’s been bottled up inside.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Ok, here we go...

Let us drink to the power, drink to the sound. Thunder and metal are shaking the ground. Drink to your brothers who are never to fall. We are brothers of metal, here in the hall!

What!? Our lyrics, oh, ok...

I know you are a part of me, but you are not defining me.
Because of you, I'm a broken man, but you are not who I am.
I know you breathe inside of me, but you are not defining me.
Listen now, my good old friend, the time has come to embrace this pain

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

The inspiration for this album came from a never-ending turmoil manifesting within my mind—an accumulation of emotional pain built up over the years that I needed to release. In addition, the inspiration behind "The Riven Heart" and "When Heroes Fall" was the tragic passing of my mother and father...

8. Something to add?

Cheers to all the readers, big thank you to our fans and listeners for always following us, and see you somewhere down the road. Check out our album on Spotify, check out our videos on YouTube... stay metal!
