Interviews: Kill Frenzy
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band Kill Frenzy from South Africa. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?
We all like video games and remember the Kill Frenzy you would get on the old school GTA games, and thought it was a good fit.
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
I can honestly say it happened organically; we just set out to make angry, aggressive music, not really worried about what it would be labeled as.
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
Yes, we played in different bands prior to that would gig together and we were friends, though the band has brought us much closer together. We are now like brothers.
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
It definitely shifts from time to time, but I would say judging I (Carl) really like HIM and listened to them quite a lot over the last year. Koni, our drummer, is a die-hard Megadeth fan, and Guthrie, our guitarist, loves Paradise Lost.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life is the biggest inspiration. Every day, there are things I note in the world that have a story needing to be told.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Woodstock Brewery in Cape Town
7. Where would you like to perform in the future?
Of course, one of the big ones would be Download Fest.
8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
Locally, it would have to be We Kill Cowboys, and internationally, I would have to say Falling in Reverse just because I think it would be a mind-bending collaboration.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?
Probably Hillsong lol.
10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?
Definitely, I would say a blunt personally works for me, but I think overall warming up and remembering that you have the set down to muscle memory will get rid of the nerves.
11. Which bands have influenced you the most?
Metallica would be a big one, and I think the Foo Fighters might also be up there.
What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Probably to sign their girlfriends tits.
12. What do you think of your fans?
I think they are amazing die die-hard fans who make it all worth it.
13. What do you think of our site?
I think it's rad and I really hope to drop in more often because I like the work you guys do.
14. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Pretty much just go and give our album a listen, I think it will speak to a lot of people stuck in the rat race and give them hope.
