Interviews: Paralysis

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Hardcore band Paralysis from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?

The band was actually suggested to us by an old guitar teacher of mine. I was having a hard time coming up with a name, and he suggested to us his old band name from high school.

2. Why did you choose to play this genre?

As kids, we were all into bands such as Metallica, Cro Mags, Slayer, and such. So we just started playing covers of everything we were into, and that’s what evolved into what we were writing.

3. Did you know each other before forming the band?

No, everyone in the band, now we have become friends through the scene and Facebook at the time.

4. What is each band member's favorite band?

Jon - Sepultura

Patrick - Metallica

Steven - Anthrax

Tommy - Children of Bodom

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It really ranges from anything modern-day hardcore or thrash to all the legends, such as Sepultura, Leeway, or Kreator.

6. Where was your last gig?

We just played a show at the Meatlocker in Montclair, NJ, not too long ago.

7. Where would you like to perform in the future?

With the new album out, we plan on trying to tour as much as we can and hit as many places that want us to come around.

8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?

We just got to collaborate with John Connelly of Nuclear Assault on the new album, so that was a huge thing for all of us.

9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?

We’re down with anyone that fucks with us except for nazis.

10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright? Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?

All the time very nerve-racking when getting back to playing shows after taking a break. The way I work through it is just keep pushing, and once you start playing, every single time the anxiety disappears.

11. Which bands have influenced you the most?

For me personally, I would say Sepultura. They’re my all-time favorites that I feel have been superior to any other thrash band in their evolution.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing is ever a weird question.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love anyone and everything that continues to support us.

14. What do you think of our site?

We love everything y’all are doing to help support bands and music.

15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Just wanna shout out all the other bands we play in, such as World Eater, High Pressure, Sentiment, Heavy Hand, and Roseblood
