Interviews: The Trousers
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Rock band The Trousers from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or come out just like that?
When we started, all the contemporary rock bands were called “The ...s”, like The Hellacopters. The
Hives, The White Stripes... We wanted to make a joke of it, because “The Trousers” looks like plural
although it’s singular. Then we realized that it looks good on the logo that we created, so we remained
“The Trousers”, which also has a complex symbolic meaning.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
It’s only rock and roll, but includes everything that we like from the ’60s to now. I think it makes a unique
mixture: rock n' roll with an old school metal attitude and very memorable, catchy melodies.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
A bit; I know Pete (Locke, guitar) from the Budapest rock underground, Bandi (Lázár, bass) used to work
at a place where we had rehearsals. Samu (Gulyás, drums) is the cousin of a drummer guy who was also
working there and he advised us to call Samu when we needed a drummer.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Pete likes The Beatles, Oasis, and Motörhead, Bandi loves Metallica, Pantera, and Alice in Chains, Samu is
a fan of Aerosmith, ZZ Top, and AC/DC, and I like The Stones between 1968 and 1973, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
In this band, I am the songwriter, and I am inspired by music, philosophy, failed love affairs, and nature.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was at a beautiful festival near Budapest called Vagabond Korzó, open air, nice people, good sound.
7. Where would you like to perform?
It would be great to play at the Bearstone Festival, Croatia, or in Scandinavia.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
With Alice in Chains, Queens of the Stone Age, Rival Sons, and The Hellacopters.
9. Who not?
Greta van Fleet.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I cannot recall. Strong group cohesion and a lot of practice help! Drinking is not 😊
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
From the 60’s: The Stones, The Stooges, from the 70’s Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Motörhead, Pistols, from
the 80’s Metallica or Mötley Crüe, from the 90’s Alice in Chains, Monster Magnet, and the from 00’s The
Hellacopters, Queens of the Stone Age. In the tour bus, we listen to everything from Elmore James and
Slayer.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To play a live intro for his boxing match when he gets in the ring, but the technical background was
problematic.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are very loyal and intelligent, and they understand what we want to express.
14. What do you think of our site?
It looks great, and very informative, congrats, proud to be there.
15. Something to add?
Don’t believe anyone who preaches about the death of rock n' roll 😊
