Track By Tracks: Syrinx - Time Out Of Place (2025)
1. Mitosis (Second Light):
We start each album with an instrumental. A little “amuse bouche” of
what’s to come.
2. 1875:
Disillusionment with spirituality and religion. The temptation of the dark magic,
especially during a time when those forces are firmly in control. The resulting fall from grace
and consequences to the soul by embracing that path. We like theatrics and storytelling like
“King Diamond and Queensryche” do on their albums.
3. The Master's Host:
A fictional story about a creature - The Host - created by a dark wizard -
The Master. In the original meaning of the song, a thief steals the Host, and the Master
wreaks bloody vengeance on the thief. In a reinterpretation of the lyric,s it could also be that The
Master exerts all his might to recover The Host, but The Host ends up joining with the Thief, and
together they overthrow the Master.
4. Solace within dreams:
After the instrumental intro set the tone for a dark and dreamy trip. We
decided to create a scene of spiritual warfare, and those who fight that fight take solace within
their dreams. This one leaves lots of room for interpretation and imagery for the listener to create
their own visuals and story based on how they relate to the lyrics.
5. The Knowing:
Based loosely on the movie Knowing, this song covers the destruction of the
Earth by an evil alien race, and follows a survivor of the Earth's destruction who ends up as a
disembodied consciousness who is aware and perceiving but has no bodily senses.
6. A Waking Dream:
About a guy on the road longing for his girlfriend who is far away, and
wanting to visit her in his dreams. And then he does manage to enter her dreams, but gets pulled into
a kinda hellish landscape in her unconscious mind. It's also about the protagonist never feeling
like he belonged anywhere.
7. Shades of your purpose:
Classic breakup tune. Mostly from the man's perspective, but also a
verse from the woman's perspective. There was a lot of strife and turmoil going on during the
creation of this song.
8. Unraveler:
This one is about how you can invest all your efforts and love into something, but in
the end, if it isn’t reciprocated and you dwell on it, it will “unravel” you. So get it out, this song is
about getting it out and moving on.
9. It Left:
About a man who is striving for spiritual abilities and ascension, but who inevitably gets
dragged down by his inability to commit to making the effort required, as well as his addictions
and strong pull towards hedonism. Classic self-sabotage, I think we can all experience at times, and the struggle to cope with it.
