Behind The Artworks: TV CULT - Overpressure (Single) (2025)
"The "Overpressure" single depicts a Faqqua Iris, which is the national flower of Palestine. The flower grows only in that region and has become known for it's unique beauty and resilience, growing in a remote mountain area where it's habitat is very much under threat from illegal settlements, overgrazing, and development. The Faqqua Iris is known for developing a strong connection to it's local lands via the deep roots it sprouts in it's mountainous soils. It's resilience to the challenges it faces has come to be seen as a mirror for the Palestinian's peoples struggles for survival.
Our designer decided to use a monotone image for the sleeve to highlight the grave situation in Palestine at this time. The use of Palestinian symbology is a nod to the subject matter of the single "Overpressure", which was written after learning about overpressure injuries inflicted on children in Gaza by the use of 500 pound bombs. The song communicates our anger and disgust at the treatment of children in war zones and the contempt we hold for our governments who embroil our societies in such conflicts."
