Interviews About Albums: LOVELORN DOLLS - True Crimes (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Belgian Gothic Rock band LOVELORN DOLLS to ask questions about their album, "True Crimes".

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

True Crimes is a journey into shadows. It’s a 4-track EP where we revisit infamous cold cases and transform them into gothic storytelling.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

The title True Crimes reflects the core concept: real-life tragedies that remain unsolved. Each track is a voice for those who were silenced, a way of turning crime reports into ghostly confessions.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

The songs are written and composed by Kristell and Bernard, with arrangements and production shaped collaboratively in the band. Eric brought his 30 years of experience as a guitarist and sound engineer, adding depth and grit to the sound.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

It’s hard to choose, but The Boy in the Box holds a very special place in our hearts. It’s tragic, almost unbearable, yet it needed to be remembered.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

It’s less a message than an invitation: to remember. These children and victims were forgotten or sensationalized. Through music, we give them presence again.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

From The Boy in the Box:

An angel in the dark
Just a boy in a box

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically, we’ve always drawn from the gothic and darkwave scenes — Theatre of Tragedy, Lacuna Coil, The Birthday Massacre, Marilyn Manson. But the true inspiration here was the victims themselves. Their stories haunted us until they became songs.

8. Something to add?

We invite everyone to listen to our new EP and let the shadows speak. True Crimes isn’t just music —it’s the first time we work in an EP 4 songs format, we hope you will enjoy it. We are already working on the next EP !
