Interviews: Bittin´Back

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band Bittin´Back from Spain. Check out the interview and follow this band on their INSTAGRAM PROFILE.

1. How did BittinBackHC form, and what brought you all together?

Bittin´Back was created by Fernando (guitar), who started recording some HC songs and wanted to give bass, drums, and vocals for those songs. In 2024, he wrote a message to Iker (vocals) asking if he wanted to come back to music; he accepted, and they started finding a bass player and a drummer. Finally, we talked with Iban (Bass) and he accepted with a big smile, and Ismael (Drums) is Fernando's friend from Cadiz (Andalucía), where the two were born.

All of the members from Bittin´Back played in other bands, Fernando had his own named project (Fernando Arteaga), he played in Asunto and Hollow Humanity in Chile. Iker was the singer of Beneath the Surface, based in Hernani. Iban is actually playing in Nulled, based in Gasteiz, and Ismael played the drums in Fernando's project, and he usually plays in a Nu-metal tribute band in Cadiz. Nowadays, Ismael left us because of a job, so we're preparing for the next gigs with Haitz. He did some recordings for other bands, and the moments we´ve been together, we all feel really good and close together.

2. What does the name “BittinBackHC” mean to you?

This name is a statement that shouts, "We're back in this, and we wanna make you dance, smile, and remember every gig”.

3. How would you describe the music people can expect from you?

The description of this is easy, we´re 4 friends doing something for fun, we don't expect anything, just have fun and make others enjoy it with us. But it´s 7-string hardcore, just heavy breakdowns and catchy riffs.

4. What bands or artists inspire your sound the most?

We can name soooooo many bands, but we'll say: Knocked Loose, Kublai Khan, ROTNS, Nasty, Bodysnatcher, Lionheart, and many more. Special shoutout to Spice Girls, we like to think that we are the new Spice Girls.

5. What themes or messages do you want to explore in your songs?

For this first EP, we explored ourselves and some generic HC lyrics. In the first and most important part, we talked about our own experiences in other bands, about the terrifying situation that Palestine is living because of IsraHell and last but not least, self-care and self-love. For the next EP, we're writing those songs in Basque. We think that singing in English is really cool, but our identity is more important.

6. What can you tell us about the EP you’re currently working on?

We hope you like it as much as we liked creating it.

7. How do you imagine this EP will introduce you to the scene?

We don't expect anything, we did this for us, and if people don't like our music, it's okay, just don't attack what you don´t like, except fascism, attack and destroy that shit.

8. Are you planning to release any merch soon?

Sure, we want to release 3 pieces of merchandise, we worked with two designers for them and we´re so excited to have those clothes in our hands.

9. Once you’re ready to play live, do you plan to tour around Euskadi?

Yes and no, due to the job of every member, it is quite difficult to make a “tour”, we've booked 4 gigs in November, and we thought it was enough. Nowadays, we´re booking more gigs for the first 6 months of 2026.

10. What would your dream first gig look like?

A gig where everyone is happy, enjoying, dancing… We´re not looking to open a concert for someone big, in a big place… Nah, as Cindy Lauper said, “Girls just wanna have fun”.

11. How are you preparing as a band before stepping on stage for the first time?

Nice question, only Fernando and Iker live close, Iban is 100km away, and Ismael is in the other part of the country, so we are doing our homework. Sometimes Fernando and Iker practice together, other times with Iban too… But it's quite weird if you're used to meeting your partners in a room, playing, and enjoying that moment. We can say that we´re happy with our discipline and implication.

12. Do you see yourselves collaborating with other local bands or collectives?

Shhh… It's a secret.

13. What are your short-term goals for the next year as a band?

As we said, having fun, meeting new and interesting bands, and meeting again some other friends and bands.

14. Where do you see BittinBackHC in five years?

We don't know, we don't have expectations, but… we're preparing a new EP.

15. If someone discovers you today, what’s the one thing you’d like them to remember about the band?

“Tío, esto está guapo” Translated: “Dude! this shit hits hard”.
