Interviews: Doomherre
On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Doom Metal/Sludge Metal/Heavy Metal band Doomherre from Sweden. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Was it planned, or did it just happen organically?
It’s a play on words; the Swedish name for the bird bullfinch is “Domherre” in Swedish, which literally translates to judgment lord. So we added the letter “o” so it became “Doomherre”.
2. Why did you choose to play this genre?
It was planned from the get-go. We had some beers and dinner, the three of us, and decided that we all wanted to play heavy doom metal. We have been playing in different heavy bands before, like death, prog, and stoner, but we have never played doom. I guess it was a natural call for us
3. Did you know each other before forming the band?
Yes, we’ve known each other for more than 20 years since we formed the band
4. What is each band member's favorite band?
Oh, that’s a hard one, I know Victor Guitar/Vocals is really into Pentagram, Neurosis, and The Obsessed, but I wouldn’t dare to say that these are his favorite ones.
I know Max (Bass) is really into Black Sabbath and Dopelord. I’m really into Sabbath, Autops, and lots of hardcore from the 80s
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
All the bands previously mentioned, blues, depression, doom, death, punk, you name it, sometimes you just sit on a pile of great riffs that you just have to unleash. That’s just what Doomherre is: a vehicle for the heavy riff.
6. Where was your last gig?
I hope we haven’t played our last gig yet, ha ha. But the last time we played until now was supporting The Sword on shows in Gothenburg and Stockholm
7. Where would you like to perform in the future?
Everywhere! All of Europe, South America, Asia, Japan, North America, the UK, all over the world!
8. Which artist or band would you like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with lots of bands, but it would be cool to do something with Wino, Jimmy Bower, or Buzz Osborne, as they seem to have an endless pile of ideas on how to make the heavy thing go heavy in a new direction.
9. Is there anyone you wouldn’t want to collaborate with?
Too many to mention…
10. Have any of you ever experienced stage fright?
Yes, but only to the point that it gets the blood pumping to do a good show. Not having a panic attack or anything
11. Do you have any tips for beginners on overcoming it?
Just be cool, it will be alright. It’s perfectly normal to be nervous; it’s because you want to do a good show and not perform badly. Don’t do much drugs/alcohol before a show to get off your nerves; it will only make the performance suffer. We are pretty much sober onstage with perhaps 1 or 2 cold beers as company before/during the show.
12. Which bands have influenced you the most?
Black Sabbath, The Beatles, Carnivore, and Autopsy
What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To sign his penis
13. What do you think of your fans?
The best there is!!
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great, a really cool site indeed!!
15. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Support the doom, Support Doomherre, let the metal flow
