Interviews: Edit The Tide

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Edit The Tide from the UK. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?

It came quite organically. We wanted something that captured movement, change, and emotion. “Edit The Tide” felt like a metaphor for taking control of the chaos around us — shaping it into something meaningful.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We’ve always been drawn to the raw energy of heavy music, but also to the emotion and melody you can weave into it. Alternative Metal gives us the freedom to balance both the aggression and the atmosphere.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Apart from Ben (Vocals), we’ve all been creating music since our teens, and it's never left our sides. Rob and Rudy have been creating music under various outfits for the last 17 years. Rob met Dave at College back in 2001 whilst they both studied a BTEC in Popular Music. The chemistry clicked really quickly.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

We’re a mixed bunch!

Ben – Alexisonfire

Rob – Manic Street Preachers

Rudy – Periphery

Dave - KISS

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experiences, mostly — both the struggles and the highs. We try to write music that captures moments of intensity and reflection, things people can connect to on an emotional level.

6. Where was your last gig?

Wilding Fest in Treforrest, it was a stacked line-up headlined by the awesome Chuggaboom!

7. Where would you like to play?

Download Festival is definitely on the bucket list. Also, we’d love to take our music across Europe — Germany, the Netherlands, and beyond.

8. Who would you like to support?

Bands like Killswitch Engage, Deftones, or Incubus would be incredible to share a stage with. They’ve shaped the genre we’re passionate about.

9. Who not?

We respect anyone making music and being creative! But we probably wouldn’t fit well supporting artists completely outside of the rock/metal scene — it wouldn’t do them or us justice.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Absolutely. It’s normal! The best advice is to channel those nerves into energy — once the first note hits, it usually melts away. Rehearse until the songs are muscle memory, then focus on enjoying the moment!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Deftones, Killswitch Engage, and Periphery— bands who aren’t afraid to evolve and push boundaries while staying heavy.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Someone once asked us to sign their shoe…

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the lifeblood of everything we do. The way people connect with our songs and give that energy back at shows — it’s something we’ll never take for granted.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great to see platforms like yours giving new bands a voice. Spaces like this help underground music thrive massively!

15. Something to add?

Just a massive thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far — from coming to shows, spinning our tracks, or spreading the word. We’re looking forward to releasing ‘The Space Between Seconds’ EP, and we can’t wait to share it with you all.
