Track By Tracks: Orbital Hotel - Missing Link (2025)

Naming songs is always a challenge. I have over 330 songs published, so it is getting more and more difficult to come up with concepts and song names...

1. Missing Link:

I had always in mind to make a song titled Missing Link. Then sometime in January 2025, I was visiting some websites and they had broken URL links, so I finally decided to make a song in honour of all the missing links, be it a lost Australopithecus in the evolution chain or just a bad HTML reference...

2. Magma:

Magma is fascinating. It is superhot due to gravity and pressure, and it is the primordial stuff that makes rocks on this planet, and potentially everywhere else where there are rocks. I say potentially because I have not been everywhere in the universe; it could be that in other celestial bodies, some rocks are made out of cacao or a mysterious compound.

3. Square:

When I made the bass line of this song, it gave me the feeling of being inside a square bouncing around like a pinball. So I named it Square.

4. The Storm:

When this riff came to me, I was just fiddling around with the guitar on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic during a storm. Thus, I thought the name The Storm would be more than appropriate.

5. Molecular Cloud:

Molecular Clouds are the birthplaces of galaxies and planetary systems. I named this melody in honour of all the Molecular Clouds that have ever existed and will exist. The cloud itself is just star dust, the remains of super freaking novas.

6. Exchange:

When subatomic particles interact, some energy exchange occurs between them. It is a very important phenomenon, if not essential, on how the entire universe works. It has nothing to do with the stock exchange or microsoft exchange :)

7. Wavefront:

A wavefront is an abstract construction that is formed by a surface joining the points of the same phase, at the same time, for a series of light waves (constructive interference), much like ripples on the surface of water when it’s raining. It has to do with light (photons) but applies to any type of wave. I find the concept absolutely cool, so I named the melody Wavefront.
