Band Biographies: Born In Agony
Born In Agony is a Mexican band from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, founded around 2015. In its early days, the project identified itself within the deathcore genre, merging elements of death metal with modern structures, aggressive riffs, and dynamic compositions that reflected the rawness of its influences.
Their first official single, “Arise,” marked the band’s birth and introduction to the extreme northern Mexican scene. Over time, the lineup underwent several changes, shaping the group’s identity until reaching one of its most aggressive and visceral stages with the release of “Falsos” in 2018. This track stood out for its direct sound and lyrics filled with anger and despair—just before the project entered a period of silence.
After several years of inactivity, Born In Agony now resurfaces with a new lineup and a renewed vision, ushering in a much darker and more atmospheric phase. Today, the band focuses on blackened deathcore, a sound that fuses the brutality of deathcore with the density, mysticism, and darkness of black metal, creating an immersive and destructive sonic experience.
The New Era – Born In Agony (Present Day)
From the original 2015 lineup, two founding members remain:
José Luis “Lees” Alfaro – Rhythm Guitar
Andrés “Coco” Alarcón – Drums
The new formation introduces key members who consolidate the current strength of the project:
Héctor “Flesh” Briseño – Bass
Chris “Darksun” Orozco – Lead Guitar
Carlos “Carnage” Hernández – Vocals
With this lineup, Born In Agony enters a new, more technical, cinematic, and apocalyptic stage reflecting the human decay and spiritual violence that define its essence. Their return marks not only a rebirth but the beginning of a new era for the band: one where pain, darkness, and agony are transformed into art.
