Interviews: Semper Acerbus

On this new occasion, we had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Metalcore band Semper Acerbus, from the USA. Check out the interview and follow this band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. What is your name, and what do you do in the band? 

My name is Nelson Acerbus, and I'm the founder and vocalist of Semper Acerbus 

2. Where did you get the idea for the band name? You planned it or came out like that? 

I wanted to have a name that was unique, but at the same time, that somehow described the music that we were writing. I searched the net to make sure no one had it. 

3. Why did you want to play this genre? 

Within metalcore, you can add any type of subgenre that you want, and still be within the style, blast beats, breakdowns, clean vocal melodies, dual guitar harmonies, stuff like that. 

4. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We have gone through a lot of lineup changes, but to answer that question for this lineup, no. 

5. Each band member's favorite band?

I have way too many to mention, but if I have to mention one, Killswitch Engage. 

6. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Every day experiences and issues, personal or what I observe in society, for the most part. 

7. Where was your last gig? 

It was at in San Juan, Puerto Rico, venue called Handlebar. 

8. Where would you like to act? 

We want to play as many festivals as we can; to us, the energy is unmatched, and the exposure exponentially greater.

9. Whom would you like to feature with?

Jesse leach from killswitch engage, Michael Sweet from Stryper, and Courtney Laplante from Spiritbox. 

10. Whom not?

Hard to say, but I don’t like douche people, lol.

11. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, I have not. The stage is where I belong, and I'm always eager to perform and put up a show. Tips to beat it: focus on something far into the distance, and do your thing without looking around. That’s the only thing I can think of.

12. What bands have inspired you the most?

For me, wow, Killswitch Engage, As I lay dying, Journey, Kansas, Megadeth, Stryper, Dream Theater, Snot, Pantera, so man,y many more! They all added something to my craft.

13. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Haha to sign her inner thigh and butt!

14. What do you think of your fans?

I think we have noticed that the people who follow Semper Acerbus are hardcore fans, really embedded to the core, they jam our stuff and let us know how much they love it!!

15. What do you think of our site?

I think you guys are doing a tremendous job showcasing bands and bringing a good insight of the bands to the public, not too many doing the good work for our industry!!
