Interviews About Albums: Superior Rage - In Memorian (2025)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Italian Symphonic Black Metal band, Superior Rage, to ask questions about their album "In Memorian"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Hi everybody, first of all many thanks for your time. "In Memoriam" EP includes 'classic' song of Superior Rage and new tracks like "Soleright" and "The Death of the Red Dragon". WHD allows me to show the Superior Rage potential, so I make this EP.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

“In Memoriam” refers to the history of Superior Rage. It can also be interpreted as being surrounded by the ghosts of the past. On the cover, the classic masked man with a golden mask from the Superior Rage project is surrounded by spirits from the past who continue to whisper in his ears. The past stays with us whether we want it to or not, and living with it is sometimes not easy at all.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Superior Rage composed all the music. About “In Memoriam,” I am responsible for the synths and the supervision of the EP. The lyrics about “The Night of Rains” and “Soleright” were written by Superior Rage in 2011 and 2014, respectively. About the line-up, we've Baelithiel on vocals (lyrics about "Asmodeus Bacchic" and "The Death of the Red Dragon"), Nemorion and Hrafnagud on guitars, and Maikon on drums. They are highly experienced session musicians.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

"Asmodues Bacchic", you can watch the new lyric video on the SR YouTube channel. It is a classic of the project, one of the first songs. The first demo was written in a 'couple' of "fury" days in 2008. The lyric video version refers to the reinterpretation of the song contained in the EP "In Memoriam".

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

It is a tribute to black metal music from Superior Rage's point of view. Fighting false demons, darkness, and antidotes to survive this sick world. And much more.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

I think the lyric of “The Night of Rains”. It's like a universal flood that washes away all human suffering. A liberating message.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

My passion for black metal. The project was inspired by the music of early raw black metal bands, combining imagery similar to some scenes of "Eyes Wide Shut" movie. Over time, the project has become more symphonic.

8. Something to add?

Thanks to everyone who will support the Superior Rage project. I have been composing music with heart and passion for twenty years. Clearly, reaching as many people as possible is always a great goal.
