Behind The Tracks: KA'APER - Amenhotep (Single) (2026)
Behold, mortal men! Evgeny, the pharaoh of my own home, is here!
To record this song, we found the most ancient and deepest tomb, carrying four
thousand years of history, and lived there for seven years, mastering every note and
weighing every word.
Of course, I’m kidding - but a lot of people think that writing music is something
comparable to magic. Spoiler: it’s not!
One day, Timur, our guitarist, sent me a raw demo called “fast mdm”, and it was
almost a finished song. I was working out at the gym, so I had time to listen to it,
murmuring: “Ta-da ta-da ta-da-da-da, Amenhotep”. The melody guided me, so
writing the lyrics was incredibly easy.
I recalled one of my trips to Egypt, remembered the Colossi of Memnon - two huge
statues near Luxor depicting Amenhotep III - and imagined myself as a
contemporary of the great pharaoh. That was it. In just 15 minutes, the lyrics were
ready.
Then we made slight changes to the music, and the demo was complete.
We always try to follow a DIY philosophy, so we recorded everything at home -
drums, guitars, bass, and vocals - and sent it to our “fifth member”, Max Baryshnikov.
He’s the guy behind our sound.
It took him only a couple of days to deliver the first draft of the song, and we were
absolutely blown away - it sounded insanely cool and heavy.
Of course, after that, we started editing it and spent a couple of weeks arguing - it's
pretty difficult to write music when all four members of the band are huge pains in
the ass, but here we are.
It’s ready, and we’re incredibly happy with the result. We wouldn’t change a thing in
this record. For now, I’m sure this is the pinnacle of our music - but damn, we’re so
excited and can’t wait to show you the other tracks. There’s so much amazing stuff
coming.
