Behind The Tracks: Ka'aper - Lament Of Osiris (Single) (2026)
Mortal men, hail from Duat… almost - it’s on the neighbouring street.
One day, when we were recording our first album, “While Flows The Nile”, Timur sent
me a completely new demo. Yes, this is how we used to work - we hadn’t even
finished the first album and already started writing the second one. By the way, we
did it again: we have already written a couple of songs for the next album while
working on “When Gods Walked the Earth”.
Well, what was I talking about?
Timur sent me the demo, and I started listening to it again and again. It had such a
melodic chorus that I decided this song should have clean vocals. I wrote a melody
and soon realised that it was far above my vocal range, and an octave lower
sounded… meh. Not good at all.
Exactly then, I realised that we needed female vocals for this song, and the topic
came immediately - the amazingly sorrowful myth about Osiris and Isis. A story of
true and unconditional love, about death and eternal life in Duat.
It was a unanimous decision on who we should invite to perform the vocals. The first
time I heard Julia singing, I got scarab-big goosebumps. She’s amazing, and I truly
believe she fits this song perfectly.
We recorded everything again at our home studios, including Julia’s vocals, and sent
it to our “fifth member”, Max Baryshnikov - our dear sound guy.
Man, there are no words to describe how happy we are with this work. Of course, in
a couple of years, we’ll think something like, “It’s shit! What dumb-ass wrote this?” -
but that will be a completely different story.
