Interviews: Dreamlord

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band, Dreamlord, from Greece. Check out the interview and this amazing band.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it or came out just like that?

The original spark came from the song “Morpheus (The Dreamlord)” by Septic Flesh. We were drawn to the imagery and the power behind the name. From there, it just stuck — it felt like the perfect fit, both powerful and a little mysterious, something that leaves room for interpretation.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Thrash metal was the soundtrack of our youth. It’s raw, energetic, and leaves no room for pretentiousness. It’s also the perfect vehicle for the kind of messages we want to deliver — intense music for intense times.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes — Yiannis (lead guitar) and I have known each other since high school. The band originally started back in 1995, but we split in 2006. In 2010, when Christos joined on bass, we decided to bring Dreamlord back. The lineup was fully solidified in 2013 when Nick came in on drums, and that’s when things really clicked.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

We all share a love for the classics — Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Testament. Beyond that, each of us has our own personal favorites, from old-school heavy metal to progressive and even non-metal stuff. That diversity keeps our sound fresh.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The world around us. Social issues, technology, and human behavior — things that affect everyone. We try to channel our frustrations, hopes, and questions into the music instead of just writing for the sake of it.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Athens, part of the band contest for the upcoming festival. The energy was insane — it reminded us why live shows are the heart of metal.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere there’s a crowd that’s hungry for metal. Big festivals across Europe are definitely on our bucket list, and of course, playing major stages here in Greece is always special for us.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Collaborating with thrash legends like Testament or Kreator would be a dream. Even something unexpected — a collab outside our genre — could be interesting if it made sense musically.

9. Whom not?

We respect anyone who puts their soul into their music. If something doesn’t fit our sound or vibe, we’d just pass rather than call names.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Everyone feels nervous at some point. The key is channeling that adrenaline into energy on stage. Our advice: rehearse until the songs are second nature, trust your bandmates, and remember the crowd is there because they want to see you.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The big four of thrash, of course, but also bands like Exodus, Testament, and Sepultura. At the same time, we’ve been influenced by everything from classic heavy metal to modern bands pushing boundaries.

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One time, someone asked for a broken string off the stage. Not too weird in metal terms, but it was a reminder that even the small things can mean something to people.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the lifeblood of what we do. Without them, it’s just us in a rehearsal room. Their support pushes us forward and makes every struggle worth it.

14. What do you think of our site?

We appreciate what you’re doing. Platforms like yours give underground and independent bands a voice, and that’s crucial for keeping metal alive and thriving.

15. Something to add?

Our new album Artificial Environment drops on September 12, 2025. Check out the lyric video for the new single and come rage with us at the shows. Stay metal!
