Behind The Tracks: Hot Ram - Black Weed (Single) (2026)

Billy/Hot Ram: I began working on this track while we were finishing our last album, Electric Medicine. The version you are hearing is actually the second iteration; the original featured different rhythm guitar parts and falsetto vocals. Vocally, I free-formed many of the lyrics using visual imagery inspired by bands like Sleep and Down, with the goal of writing a new weed classic. The bridge section developed through constant jamming, and the phrase "Black Weed" eventually emerged during a moment of improvisation. 

Ultimately, "Black Weed" is a nod to both the prince of darkness and lush green buds—a sing-along anthem designed for a stadium-sized crowd.
