Interviews: Tallboy

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Tallboy from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name? Did you plan it, or did it just come out like that?

It actually started as an in-joke. Our singer is 6’8” while our guitarist is 5’0”, and the irony of that contrast stuck with us; the name just kind of fell into place from there.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s a genre that comes naturally to us; we love the feeling it makes us feel when writing/performing it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes. Two of us are brothers, and the others have been friends for years. We’re from a small town with a close, interconnected music scene, so our paths had crossed many times before we officially formed the band.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Each of us brings different musical influences to the table, ranging from jazz and pop to the heavier end of the spectrum, and that mix helps shape our overall sound. Emotion is at the core of our songwriting. Creating music feels cathartic, a powerful way to process feelings and clear the mind.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in our hometown, and it turned out to be a fantastic night. The crowd gave us an amazing response, and we even sold plenty of merch, which made it all the more special.

7. Where would you like to act?

We’d be grateful for the chance to play on any stage, but our ultimate aim is to perform at major festivals and take our music on tour across Europe. Whom would you like to feature with? Any of the big hitters in the heavy world!

9. Whom not?

There’s no one that sticks out.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?

The last time any of us really felt it was back when we first started playing live as kids.

11. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Preparation is the secret weapon. Know your parts inside out, and you’ll feel far more confident stepping on stage. As the saying goes, if you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are so many to choose from, but pretty much any of the bands we’ve listed as our favourites, even S Club.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One time, someone asked us to sign a half-eaten slice of pizza and then promised to “preserve it for history.” We’re still not sure if that meant a display case or a freezer next to the peas.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We genuinely appreciate them. Without their support, none of this would mean as much. We create music not just for ourselves, but for the people who connect with it. Whether it helps someone blow off steam or simply join us on the journey, that connection is what makes it worthwhile.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think it’s awesome. It’s a brilliant platform for alternative and heavy music, and it genuinely feels like it’s run by people who care about the scene. Sites like yours give bands a voice and help fans discover new music, which is massively important. Keep doing what you’re doing; it makes a difference.
