Behind The Artworks: Abstrakt Lake - Moments // Elements (2026)

The artworks for the three Abstrakt Lake LPs were made by Dmytryi Kalmykov, fom Odessa, Ukraine. I think Dmytryi has a great understanding of what AL's music is about. He always captures the mood very well. For 'Moments // Elements', I was not so sure of what the cover should reflect: should it put the emphasis on the 'moments', urban pictures like cities, buildings... or on 'elements', like water, wood, mountains? So I sent Dmytro the music and some photos I took in various places where the field recordings were made. And he chose to design this beautiful fjord, with mountains on the back, obviously nodding to the track 'Vann og Is', which has this epic Norwegian atmosphere. I think he was right, and everyone agrees that it's the best artwork he has made for the project so far.
