Behind The Scenes: 2Birds Band - Top Of The World (Official Video)

We‘re so happy to talk to you about our official music video « Top Of The World » !  This song is important for us as it shows the global artistic band direction, blending punk, prog rock/metal, and 20th century western classical music. It's also one of our audience's favorites and resumes a part of the band's philosophy and album storytelling.

Featuring our good friend Laure Le Prunenec (singer and leader of Rïcïnn, ex-Igorrr singer) was the last ingredient that brought even more mystery, depth, power, drama, and epicness to the song.  It took quite some time for us to release this video for budget reasons and because of the band members' schedules. We were first thinking about releasing an actual clip with scenario, acting, etc., but then something interesting showed up. We received a response from Festival R4 in Picardie (northern France) saying they’d love to have us for their 2025 edition. From there, we thought about hiring two cameras to shoot our performance (HS Unknown on IG), then editing all the best shots and blending them into the album recording, as we were playing our concert with in-ear monitors for stems and click track. Furthermore, Laure was also performing with her band Rïcïnn at the festival, which made it easy to have her join us on stage for the clip, killing 2BIRDS with one stone, hehe!

We executed our plan, but something went wrong while going on stage: the laptop that was supposed to generate the click track and stems froze for a long time, and the stage manager advised us to start anyway, as the night was going behind schedule and the audience was waiting. We decided to play without a click track and had a great concert! 

The only issue was that we couldn’t match the videos with the album's sound. This is where we got the idea of choosing a wide variety of the best shots, then using them in the best way we could to illustrate each and every section of the song. Meanwhile, we came up with the idea of adding animated lyrics to the clip so the viewers could have some fun learning them and/or know what the song is about.

We’ve been working with our cellist’s brother, Adrien Lannoy, in the past for this kind of job. He quickly managed to create a cool blend of text and drawn symbols. 

It’s been less than a week since « Top Of The World » appearance on YouTube. We're glad that the audience enjoys it! With this nice, rough, energetic video shoot showing the real band's frenzy, headbanging violins, we’re happy to bring the record into a new light, as the audience may think of a stiffer or more institutional stage presence by only listening to the audio.
