Interviews About Albums: Ozark Shaman - A Traitor Is Worse Than An Enemy (2026)
In this new interview, we sat down with the American Black Metal project Ozark Shaman to ask questions about his album, "A Traitor Is Worse Than An Enemy".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
I'm thankful for the outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the new release. It was a learning process to figure out how to do production on my own, and I’m glad it’s finally wrapped up. Now I can keep moving forward and make more music.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
It explores the concept of betrayal, and how different it is when it comes from within from someone you trusted.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
I composed all the music. (Brad Nailling)
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
The Warrior’s Spirit
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
Every song carries its own meaning. But perseverance is the most recurring theme.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
It is only human to have doubts in the night, but when we yearn for more cling to the fight for life, which is war.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
My foundational inspiration was always the early black, death, and thrash metal classics. Death, Drudkh, Windir, Sadus, Kreator, Bathory, Marduk, Satyricon, to name a few. I could probably fill the page with the others as they came from many different genres. I thank my wife, parents, friends who stuck by me during hard times, and my guitar tech.
8. Something to add?
I appreciate you taking the time to do this interview.
The album is on all platforms, but you can snag it on Bandcamp with the name-your-price feature. https://ozarkshaman.bandcamp.com/album/a-traitor-is-worse-than-an-enemy
